The Coordinator Talent Acquisition is a key leadership role within the People Operations & Safety Department. This role is responsible for driving strategic and operational excellence in talent acquisition to support Hume City Council’s workforce needs now and into the future.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead the Talent Acquisition team by building a values-aligned culture that prioritises customer experience, collaboration, and excellence.
- Develop the team’s capability by enhancing people, processes, and systems to deliver a high-quality recruitment experience.
- Oversee timely and compliant recruitment and onboarding practices that contribute to a positive employee experience and meet all legislative and policy obligations.
- Provide expert leadership and oversight across all Talent Acquisition services, initiatives, and projects.
- Oversee and conduct end-to-end recruitment processes, including advertising, screening, interviewing, assessments, onboarding, and offers.
- Ensure the recruitment system remains secure, effective, and user-friendly; act as the primary system administrator and subject matter expert (Super User).
- Provide onboarding support and training to hiring managers on using the recruitment platform.
- Liaise with the system provider and IT team to manage updates, troubleshoot issues, and optimise the system’s performance.
- Recommend and support enhancements to the recruitment platform and related software to meet emerging business needs.
- Develop and review recruitment policies, frameworks, and performance indicators that support the delivery of People Strategy goals.
- Provide high-quality reports, policy advice, and technical guidance in response to requests from the Senior Leadership Team.
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:
- Demonstrated success in designing and implementing strategic recruitment and onboarding solutions, including experience with pre-employment assessments, executive reporting tools (e.g., dashboards, LinkedIn Talent Insights), and applicant tracking systems (e.g., Oracle or similar).
- Strong people leadership capabilities, with proven ability to inspire, coach, and develop teams to deliver high-quality outcomes in a dynamic and customer-focused environment.
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to partner with leaders, influence decisions, and drive organisational alignment to talent acquisition strategies.
- Proven project management experience, including the ability to lead and deliver system or process improvements across cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make evidence-based recommendations to inform workforce and resourcing strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong customer service ethos, and a demonstrated commitment to inclusion, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant employment and recruitment legislation, industrial agreements (e.g., Enterprise Agreements), and public sector compliance obligations.
Required Certifications & Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management, Business, or a related field, combined with substantial experience in leading talent acquisition functions in complex organisations.
