Company Description

Vuori is re-defining what athletic apparel looks like: built to move and sweat in but designed with a casual aesthetic to transition into everyday life. We draw inspiration from an active coastal California lifestyle; an integration of fitness, creative expression and life. Our high energy fast paced retail environment is reflected in the clothes we make. We aim to inspire others to take on all aspects of their lives with clarity, enthusiasm and purpose…while having a lot of fun along the way. We are proud to be an outlet for opportunity and for personal growth and success.

Job Description

We're looking for a Senior Manager, Data Engineering to lead and grow our data engineering team while staying close enough to the technical work to guide architecture and unblock the team. You'll own the roadmap and delivery for our data ingestion and pipeline infrastructure — from raw ingestion of heterogeneous sources through staging and curated layers — and be accountable for the people, priorities, and technical direction that make that work possible. You'll partner closely with data modeling, analytics, and product leadership to make sure the team is solving the right problems.

What you'll get to do:

  • Lead and grow a team of data engineers — hiring, mentoring, career development, and performance management
  • Set the technical roadmap and strategy for data ingestion and pipeline architecture, ensuring it aligns with broader data platform goals
  • Partner with data modeling, analytics, and product leadership to prioritize the data engineering roadmap based on business needs
  • Work closely with the data modeling function to ensure pipeline output aligns with downstream semantic and dimensional models, resolving handoff issues between raw ingestion and curated, analytics-ready data
  • Own team processes and engineering rigor: sprint planning, code review standards, on-call/incident response, and testing practices
  • Act as an escalation point for complex technical and architectural decisions across pipeline design, ingestion patterns, and system reliability
  • Represent data engineering in cross-functional planning and leadership discussions, translating technical tradeoffs into business terms
  • Manage team capacity and workload across active projects, balancing new feature work against technical debt and reliability
  • Stay hands-on enough with the underlying technology (Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, API/file ingestion patterns) to make credible architecture calls and coach the team through hard problems
Qualifications

Who you are:

  • Experience managing and growing a team of data engineers, including hiring, coaching, and performance management
  • Strong hands-on background in data engineering — pipeline design, ingestion patterns, and cloud data warehousing (Azure Data Factory and Snowflake experience preferred)
  • Experience setting technical roadmaps and prioritizing across competing initiatives and stakeholders
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience partnering with analytics, product, and business leadership
  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field, including experience in a formal people-management role
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent years of experience preferred

Preferred Experience

  • Experience scaling a data engineering team through significant growth
  • Familiarity with dbt, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, ARM/Bicep), and broader CI/CD practices
  • Experience managing vendor relationships or tooling budgets
  • Exposure to real-time analytics or streaming technologies
