Job Description

The Manager, SAP Technology leads the SAP Basis and ABAP/Fiori teams and is accountable for reliable SAP platform operations, technical lifecycle management, and effective change and release practices. The role combines people leadership with sufficient hands-on SAP technology expertise to guide complex troubleshooting and technical decisions.

Your key responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and develop the SAP ABAP/Fiori Development and SAP Basis teams. Manage team capacity and resource allocation.
  • Remove organizational and delivery impediments affecting the teams. Set team objectives, clarify responsibilities, and support competence development.
  • Coordinate onboarding and management of internal and external resources.
  • Oversee external contractor engagement, time tracking, and work assignments.

SAP Technology Operations

  • Ensure the stability, availability, performance, security, and lifecycle management of SAP platforms. Provide technical leadership for complex SAP Basis & platform issues, major troubleshooting activities, and platform-related technical decisions.
  • Plan and coordinate technical activities such as OS patching,  SAP kernel upgrades, transports, and maintenance windows.
  • Contribute to SAP platform strategy, lifecycle planning and technical roadmap decisions
  • Serve as the senior technical coordination point for complex SAP platform issues that require collaboration across multiple teams or service providers.

Audit & Compliance

  • Coordinate SAP-related internal, external, and cybersecurity audits.
  • Ensure compliance with SAP change, release, security, and operational controls.
  • Coordinate remediation and follow-up of audit findings related to SAP technology..

DevOps & Release Management

  • Own SAP change, release, and DevOps practices, including their continuous improvement.
  • Develop a controlled, decentralized deployment model in which development teams can deliver changes within clearly defined responsibilities and governance.
  • Maintain end-to-end visibility of SAP releases, dependencies, deployment readiness, and production changes.

Awareness of ISO 14001 and 45001 standards

Qualifications

What should you bring?

10+ years of experience SAP Basis and Technology operations in large enterprise environments

Required experience: 

  • Strong experience with SAP S/4HANA and/or ECC operations
  • Understanding of S/4HANA and SAP BTP connectivity
  • Strong experience in SAP change, transport, and release management.
  • Experience of Solution Manager ChaRM
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and communicate decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of agile ways of working and relevant delivery tools such as Jira and ServiceNow. Experience leading technical experts and coordinating internal and external resources.
  • Experience working with external service providers in a global enterprise environment.
  • Good understanding of SAP architecture, integrations, security, and platform lifecycle management.

Considered an advantage:

  • Experience with RISE with SAP or SAP private cloud operating models.
  • Knowledge of SAP BTP, Cloud Connector, and hybrid SAP landscapes.
  • Experience with SAP Cloud ALM.
  • Experience with SAP automation, DevOps tooling, AI, Joule.

General Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop technical experts. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, demonstrating both the capability to work autonomously and collaboratively within team dynamics as required Team player
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills in English.– Verbal, Written
  • Ability to explain complex technical matters to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborative, practical, and accountable approach to problem solving.
  • Flexibility to support critical activities outside normal working hours when necessary.
