Do you enjoy working in the field, solving problems, and making a positive impact in your community? The City of Stirling is seeking a proactive and customer-focused Verge Control Officer to join our Development Services team.

In this diverse and rewarding role, you will help protect and maintain the City's road reserve assets by administering and enforcing legislation, local laws and Council policies relating to verges, crossovers, building and demolition activities, and development works. You will combine technical assessment, compliance investigation and customer service to deliver positive outcomes for the community.

About the Role

As a Verge Control Officer, you will:

  • Conduct inspections of verge works and road reserve assets before, during and after construction activities.
  • Investigate verge-related complaints, requests for service and compliance matters.
  • Assess verge permits, crossover applications and associated asset protection requirements.
  • Administer and enforce relevant legislation, regulations, local laws and Council policies.
  • Prepare reports, collect evidence and undertake enforcement actions where required.
  • Provide advice and guidance to residents, builders, contractors and stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure the protection and restoration of public infrastructure.
  • Contribute to process improvements and the implementation of mobile technology solutions.
Qualifications

You are a confident and professional compliance officer with strong investigative and problem-solving skills. You enjoy working autonomously in the field while balancing customer service, regulatory requirements and community expectations.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Qualifications in Town Planning, Building Surveying, Civil Engineering or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • Sound knowledge of compliance, enforcement, building control or regulatory practices.
  • The ability to interpret plans, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Excellent organisational, record-keeping and time management abilities.
  • Well-developed decision-making skills and the ability to apply legislation and policy consistently.
  • Experience dealing with challenging customer situations in a professional manner.
  • A current driver's licence and National Police Clearance.
