Job Description

Put your construction materials testing expertise to work in a varied role where no two days are the same. We are seeking a capable Geotechnician to deliver accurate, efficient and high-quality testing services across laboratory and field environments in Kalgoorlie.

About the Role

You will test and analyse construction materials using destructive and non-destructive techniques, applying your technical knowledge and judgement with limited supervision. You will also support the development of Assistant Geotechnicians and Technical Assistants while maintaining safe, reliable and client-focused service.

Enjoy a consistent Monday-to-Friday schedule, with overtime available based on operational needs. The role also requires flexibility to work across Perth Metropolitan area and at site-based laboratories as needed.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Collect, log and prepare construction material samples for testing
  • Complete routine laboratory and field testing to relevant standards
  • Set up, calibrate and maintain testing equipment
  • Interpret work instructions, select suitable procedures and equipment, and follow client test requests
  • Analyse test data, prepare reports and issue completed results to customers
  • Book client jobs, send confirmations and communicate with clients
  • Maintain clean work areas and follow safe working practices
  • Report hazards and contribute to continuous laboratory improvement
  • Support and develop Assistant Geotechnicians and Technical Assistants
Qualifications

About You

  • Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques or a Civil Engineering qualification
  • Current unrestricted WA C Class driver's licence
  • Previous experience in a laboratory environment
  • Approved NATA Signatory status in rocks, aggregate, concrete or masonry
