Original job description
NVIDIA has been transforming computer graphics, PC gaming, and accelerated computing for more than 25 years. It’s a unique legacy of innovation that’s fueled by great technology - and amazing people. Today, we’re tapping into the unlimited potential of AI to define the next era of computing. An era in which our GPU acts as the brains of computers, robots, and self-driving cars that can understand the world. Doing what’s never been done before takes vision, innovation, and the world’s best talent. As an NVIDIAN, you’ll be immersed in a diverse, supportive environment where everyone is inspired to do their best work. Come join the team and see how you can make a lasting impact on the world.
Want to help turn a new environment into a platform that engineers can rely on? Join our DGX Cloud Engineering team as a Pre Production Engineer! We build and operate DSX OS pre-production environments so development and QA teams can integrate and validate new capabilities. DSX OS is modular software for multi-tenant AI factory infrastructure. We work across the full environment lifecycle, from Linux and Kubernetes setup to platform services and ongoing operations. You'll help us automate deployment, investigate failures, and make changes safely. This is software and infrastructure engineering, not physical hardware installation or repair. We work with hardware and networking specialists when firmware, drivers, or system dependencies affect reliability.
What you'll be doing:
- Build, operate, and improve DSX OS pre-production environments across multiple GPU platforms.
- Drive initial environment setup, including server and OS provisioning, Kubernetes bootstrap, configuration, and GitOps-based deployment.
- Manage ongoing operations, including troubleshooting, OS and software updates, and coordinated firmware rollouts.
- Investigate issues across Linux hosts, container runtimes, networking, storage, Kubernetes, and platform services.
- Develop and improve automation for provisioning, deployment, validation, and maintenance of environments.
- Deploy and configure services through CI/CD and GitOps workflows, ensuring end-to-end connectivity and data persistence.
- Collaborate with software development, QA, bring-up, networking, and production engineering teams to detail procedures, communicate risks, and resolve issues.
What we need to see:
- BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
- Proven hands-on experience in software engineering, infrastructure, platform engineering, or SRE or equivalent experience.
- Strong Kubernetes administration and troubleshooting skills, focusing on cluster or node lifecycle and related networking and storage dependencies.
- Solid foundation in Linux and networking, with the ability to diagnose issues across the OS, container runtime, and Kubernetes layers.
- Ability to develop, debug, test, and maintain automation or engineering tools, with a focus on error handling and safe operation.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code or configuration management tools such as Ansible or Terraform, and Git-based delivery workflows like CI/CD or GitOps or equivalent experience.
- Good judgment in changing shared environments, assessing impacts, protecting data, and verifying recoveries.
- Effective spoken and written communication in English, capable of explaining technical issues clearly and collaborating across teams and regions.
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
- Experience building on-premises or self-managed Kubernetes clusters, including bootstrap, setup, upgrades, or recovery.
- Expertise in Linux or Kubernetes networking, persistent storage, identity, observability, GitOps, or infrastructure CI/CD.
- Experience with automated server provisioning, OS imaging, remote management, or firmware and driver lifecycle management.
- Familiarity with automating or operating AI, GPU, HPC, or other distributed computing infrastructure.
- Contributions to open-source projects or independently built infrastructure and automation projects.
With competitive salaries and a generous benefits package, NVIDIA is widely considered to be one of the most desirable employers in the world. We have some of the most brilliant and talented people in the world working for us. If you are creative, autonomous and love a challenge, we want to hear from you. We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
