Forward Deployed Software Engineers (FDSEs) are embedded technical partners within a high-performing, mission-driven team spanning Product, Data Engineering, Implementations, and Customer Success. In pharma engagements, they work directly with clinical, medical affairs, and R&D teams to build data-driven solutions expanding from single-customer to multi-customer models, and your role shapes how we scale sustainably. WHAT YOU'LL DO AT H1 We're looking for a Senior Forward Deployed Software Engineer to take ownership of our strategic enterprise pharma accounts and define how H1 scales this function. Currently, we're reliant on external Salesforce vendors, but we need to build and own this capability in-house to control our roadmap, maintain strategic relationships, and expand from single-customer to multi-customer model. You'll drive feature development on Salesforce Life Sciences Cloud (Engage 360), own end-to-end customer implementations, and serve as the technical advisor for our marquee pharma clients. You'll work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment where you're constantly translating what clients need into what's technically feasible, and finding the optimal path when the ideal solution isn't possible. You will: - Own end-to-end Salesforce Life Sciences Cloud (Engage 360) implementations for enterprise pharma clients, including real feature development, customization, and data model design- Design and execute customer implementations, translating business requirements into technical solutions, defining data architecture, ETL workflows, and integration strategies
- Build data movement and ETL pipelines using Python and Airflow to ingest, transform, and integrate data from multiple sources and structures
- Write and optimize SQL queries; design efficient data models to support complex pharma workflows and analytics requirements
- Conduct requirement analysis and translate complex client workflows into architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and implementation plans
- Own client calls and serve as the technical point of contact for enterprise pharma accounts, independently managing relationships and navigating ambiguity
- Define the technical standards, processes, and tooling for how H1's Forward Deployed function scales to support multiple customers ABOUT YOU - You have 5+ years of hands-on Salesforce consulting with proven expertise in real feature development, customization (Apex, Flows, Lightning Components), and customer implementations—not just requirements-gathering
- You're a strong engineer in Python and Airflow with real-world ETL pipeline experience. You understand data transformations, data modeling, SQL optimization, and can work with diverse data sources and structures
- You thrive in consulting-style engagements where you're translating client needs into technical solutions. You've worked directly with demanding enterprise customers and know how to manage complex stakeholders and deliver under constraints
- You're comfortable with ambiguity and skilled at bridging the gap between business needs and technical reality. You can explain trade-offs clearly and define feasible solutions when the ideal path isn't obvious
- You operate with high autonomy and own relationships end-to-end. You're someone we can trust to handle enterprise account calls independently and make technical decisions that shape our client strategy REQUIREMENTS - 5+ years of hands-on Salesforce consulting with proven hands-on expertise in feature development and customization (Apex, Flows, Lightning Components), you've shipped real solutions, not just scoped requirements
- Strong Python engineer with real-world Airflow and ETL pipeline experience; you understand data transformation, pipeline design, and can optimize data workflows
- SQL proficiency and data model design experience; you can write and optimize complex queries and design efficient schemas to support analytics and operational needs
- Proven ability to translate client requirements into technical architecture and drive implementations from discovery through deployment
- Direct experience working with enterprise clients in a consulting capacity, you've managed demanding stakeholders, navigated scope, and delivered under constraints
- Comfort navigating technical ambiguity; ability to define feasible solutions when requirements are unclear or competing constraints exist NICE-TO-HAVES
- Life Sciences Cloud (LSC) specific experience or implementation background
- Healthcare or pharma industry consulting experience
- Experience designing data warehouses or working with Snowflake, Redshift, or similar platforms
- Track record managing or mentoring technical teams while staying hands-on COMPENSATION This role pays $145,000 to $185,000 per year, based on experience, in addition to equity (RSUs). Anticipated role close date: 11/28/2026.
