Job Description

We are looking for a Service Engineer to join our dedicated onsite engineering team at Dublin Airport. This is an exciting opportunity to work with market-leading security screening technologies that help keep people safe across the world's transportation hubs.

As a Shift Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining the performance, reliability, and availability of advanced security screening systems. Working as part of a highly skilled team, you will support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of critical airport security equipment.

This position operates on a continental shift pattern of 2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off (12-hour shifts), providing around-the-clock support to airport operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventative maintenance, servicing, and repair activities on advanced security screening equipment.
  • Respond to equipment faults and service calls, performing diagnostics and corrective actions within your area of expertise.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to senior engineers and product specialists when required.
  • Maintain accurate service records, maintenance logs, and technical documentation.
  • Support spare parts management, including ordering, tracking, and returns.
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for operational improvements.
  • Participate in installations, upgrades, site surveys, and project activities.
  • Provide technical support to customers and colleagues while maintaining excellent service standards.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Complete ongoing training to develop expertise across the Smiths Detection product portfolio.

Qualifications
  • Experience in an engineering, maintenance, service, or technical support environment.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Good understanding of mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems.
  • Competent using Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow structured processes and maintain accurate documentation.

Desirable

  • Experience working with security screening, automation, industrial equipment, or similar technologies.
  • Knowledge of service management systems.
  • Experience within airport, transportation, manufacturing, or highly regulated environments.
  • HNC/HND, apprenticeship, military engineering background, or equivalent technical qualification.
