Job Description

We're looking for a Production Supervisor to join Smiths Detection at our Johor site. In this role, you will lead production operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of products while driving continuous improvement, quality excellence, and team performance. You will play a key role in managing production resources, developing team capability, and fostering a culture of operational excellence.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, coach, and develop production teams to achieve business objectives while fostering a positive and high-performing work environment.
  • Manage production manpower, tools, equipment, and resources to meet delivery and operational targets.
  • Plan, schedule, and monitor production activities, ensuring priorities are effectively managed and customer commitments are met.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen initiatives to improve productivity, quality, workplace conditions, and cost efficiency.
  • Monitor production performance, analyze operational data, and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and throughput.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and maintain adherence to organizational procedures and manufacturing requirements.
  • Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, systems, and documentation, including JES and ISO requirements.
  • Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and organized workplace through EHS compliance and 5S practices.
  • Identify and resolve production issues through effective problem-solving and root cause analysis.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver operational objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure equipment reliability through timely escalation, repair coordination, and evaluation of new manufacturing technologies.
  • Contribute to business success by supporting operational and strategic initiatives as required.
Qualifications

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience within an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience leading large production teams, with experience supervising up to 30 personnel and managing larger workforce populations preferred.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in production planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and performance management.
  • Solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, Kaizen methodologies, and continuous improvement tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with quality and environmental management systems, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Proficiency in driving operational excellence through data-driven decision-making and process optimization.
