At LinkedIn, our approach to flexible work is centered on trust and optimized for culture, connection, clarity, and the evolving needs of our business. The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team.
LinkedIn's B2B Institute is a leading think tank shaping the future of B2B marketing through original research, insights, and thought leadership. Our work helps senior B2B marketers understand how buying decisions are made, build stronger brands, and drive business growth. Our research has been featured in Harvard Business Review, MIT Sloan Management Review, and Cannes Lions, and is recognized by leading industry organizations.
We are seeking a senior individual contributor to develop compelling, evidence-based thought leadership that influences senior marketing executives and shapes industry conversations. This role requires deep, hands-on B2B marketing expertise, exceptional storytelling skills, strong analytical judgment, and the ability to translate complex research into original, commercially relevant perspectives.
The position combines content creation, research, and executive engagement, with approximately half the time dedicated to developing thought leadership and the other half focused on amplifying insights through industry events, customer engagements, and LinkedIn's channels.
This role reports to the Head of Thought Leadership Research, B2B Institute.
Responsibilities
- Author high-impact thought leadership articles, flagship research reports, executive summaries, and supporting content for senior B2B marketing audiences.
- Translate complex marketing concepts, survey findings, platform data, and third-party research into clear, compelling, evidence-backed insights and actionable recommendations.
- Shape the B2B Institute's editorial agenda by identifying emerging industry trends, developing original perspectives, and challenging conventional marketing thinking.
- Apply deep B2B marketing expertise and commercial understanding to develop content that addresses real-world challenges facing senior marketing leaders.
- Lead secondary research and analysis, evaluate findings, test hypotheses, and partner with research teams to inform new studies and strengthen editorial arguments.
- Develop compelling narratives that connect qualitative and quantitative research findings to broader business challenges and opportunities.
- Present thought leadership and research findings to senior executives, customers, industry partners, and conference audiences with credibility and authority.
- Collaborate with Editorial, Research, Legal, Communications, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure content quality, accuracy, and alignment.
- Create supporting materials, including presentations, talking points, social content, and executive briefings, to extend the reach and impact of published research.
- Own thought leadership initiatives end-to-end, from initial concept and content development through stakeholder approvals, publication, and market activation.
- Maintain rigorous editorial and analytical standards, ensuring published claims are supported by credible research and evidence.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of professional experience in B2B marketing, agency strategy, consulting, industry research, business editorial, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in B2B marketing within an in-house, agency, or consulting environment.
- Experience publishing written content for business or marketing audiences.
- Experience translating data or research into published thought leadership or original perspectives.
Preferred Qualifications
- 12+ years of professional experience, including senior-level experience within a B2B marketing organization.
- Established industry presence through original research, published articles, thought leadership, or keynote speaking engagements.
- Hands-on experience developing or executing demand generation, performance marketing, or full-funnel marketing programs.
- Experience conducting secondary research and contributing to the design or commissioning of primary research studies.
- Background in agency strategy, consulting, industry research, or business editorial.
- Demonstrated experience presenting to C-level executives and speaking at major industry conferences or events.
- Experience navigating organizational change and collaborating across matrixed, global marketing organizations.
