Partnerships for Parks (PfP) is a joint program of New York City Parks and City Parks Foundation (CPF). PfP supports and champions a growing network of community leaders who care for and advocate for neighborhood parks and green spaces. We equip individuals, organizations, and government partners with the skills, tools and resources needed to ensure these spaces remain vibrant and dynamic community assets.
The Partnerships for Parks Volunteer Program engages corporate and non profit partners through It’s My Park volunteer opportunities, our signature volunteer program that helps communities beautify and care for their local park. The Volunteer Program coordinator centrally manages the administrative and logistical aspects of volunteer engagement across PfP departments, and supports priority initiatives through programming, partnership development and resource development.
Major Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Senior Volunteer Coordinator, perform routine administrative and operational tasks to support PfP volunteer programming, and plan and execute volunteer programming as needed.
- Assist with maintaining volunteer supply inventories, including but not limited to managing supply purchases, deliveries, and returns through NYC Parks and CPF systems, conducting inventory assessments, organizing storehouses, and assisting with tool sorting and allocations.
- Collect and track information, input and manage data into Salesforce and other databases, create online registration forms, and input and manage other information online and internally.
- Prepare, contribute to, and circulate reports and presentations. Attend meetings on behalf of PfP as directed.
- Liaise and coordinate with PfP, CPF and NYC Parks employees across departments, on all matters related to volunteer coordination.
- Track expenses and inventory and communicate budget and expense updates to supervisor and others as needed.
- Communicate via email and phone with internal and external stakeholders, respond to general volunteer inquiries and serve as a main point of contact for organizations interested in volunteering.
- Plan and lead IMP service projects in parks across the City for volunteers of all ages to engage in hands-on beautification and clean-up activities including but not limited to planting, tree care, painting, litter removal, with an emphasis on priority themes as directed (ie: youth, environment, etc.).
- Manage volunteers and program participants as appropriate.
- Support other priority programs, events and initiatives as directed.

COMMUNITY COORDINATOR - 56058
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
